CAFOD Tree Planting

After 11:00 Mass on Sunday 27th November, the congregation was invited to the grass area in front of the Priest’s House to witness Fr Tim completing the final stage of planting three Betula Nigra ‘Heritage’ trees. This is part of Cafod’s work to enhance the local environment and to help save our planet. The week, 26th November to 4th December was National Tree Week 2022 .

We have also planted a mixed hedge of blackthorn and hawthorn next to the boundary between the church and the school nature reserve to encourage insect and bird life.

Virtual Pilgimage

Below are some of the the ways in which we have contributed to the 264 mile pilgrimage to Walsingham>

Round the Island walk

A group of parishioners and friends added miles to our pilgrimage by walking around the Portland coastal path. A ten-mile treck over sometimes difficult terrain was quite a challenge, especially when you consider that at least half of the team are over 70.
If you would like sponser us, please visit our JustGiving page.

The whole team at the half-way point – Portland Bill

Leading by example

Liz and Bernard White braved what look like challenging conditions to add miles to the Walsingham virtual pilgrimage challenge.

Mary and Jim set the ball rolling

Mary and Jim Wetherill, ably assisted by granddaughter Felicity, gave the Wool to Walsingham Virtual Pilgrimage a good start by cycling from Wareham to Lulworth together – 9 miles. Mary and Jim then continued to Wool before returning to Wareham – a total of 25 miles. Each mile contributes towards the pilgrmage total distance of 264 miles. Click here find out more about the pilgrimage.
